The available weather model database has a few new additions and changes:
RAP
RAP is the NOAA Rapid Refresh mesoscale model for the continental US and surrounding waters, it will replace NAM in early 2026.
AIGFS
AIGFS is a NOAA model not based on physics, but on based on Google DeepMind’s GraphCast model.
AIFS
Similar to AIGFS, AIFS is based on AI. It is calculated by the ECMWF and based on ECMWF data.
Both AI models share the initialization data from the physical models.
The WW3 model is since some time not a separate model, but calculated as part of GFS and is actually named GFSWave. The GFS model does now allow to download all previously available WW3 data as part of a GFS GRIB download.
